Our holiday trip this year is to Hayling Island. We will also be going Hastings, Bournemouth, Eastbourne and Brighton.
We took our members to Westgate School where they made Christmas decorations together and the pupils sang. It was a great start to our Christmas activities.
In September there will be the usual McMillan Coffee Morning hosted by the club on the 25th Sept with many of the club members bringing in the tasty cakes to raise money for this event.
Two great opportunities recently for mixing of the generations and bridging the gap between the elderly and young people. Westgate School year 10 pupils came for a visit to our club and put on a coffee morning for the members. They baked cakes and made sandwiches. There was a lot of fun during a game of charades and a quiz game. Creating a lot of opportunities for them all to make conversation.
Beechwood School pupils came to visit and joined us for a BBQ and also took part in our raffle. To their delight two of the pupils even won raffle prizes.
Both events were a huge success and enjoyed by both club members and school pupils increasing the opportunity of breaking down barriers between young and old. Also creating talks for similar events in the future.
Two of our trips to the seaside Brighton and Hastings, a chance for members to have a day out, relax and have fun. The usual day comprised of a cup of tea, shellfish treat, fish and chips, more tea and then an energetic walk around the shops.
We will be using our blog to keep people up to date on all our events so check back often.
